So wow, quite a lot has happened since the previous update. I got accepted to medical school!!!!! . I got accepted to the University of Louisville. Really Really awesome. I can't believe it, it seems so unreal to me. Man am I relieved!!! Now the year can really start! Hehe, a couple of interesting things to note though. Even though I'm going to U of L for med. school probably next year, I'm still going to root for UK (basketball). I still gotta represent TN when it comes to football (even though my Titans are a pitiful 2- 6 record now...... yeesh). Heck, I also have a job now too. I'm working in a cell bio. research lab doing some DNA manipulation research on fruit flies and such. Sounds kind of dry but its actually really interesting.

Something I've also come to realize; it's interesting to see the messages you receive from people when you tell them something great happened to you (i.e. getting into medical school). There's a big mix of reactions to it. Some people are honestly excited for you, while others (as can be seen) are not so enthusiastic. Heck, even one of my roommates didnt congratulate me when I told him (his response was along the lines of "oh U of L?, boo hiss, why are you going there?"). Situations like this are a semi-good gauge of who your real friends are.

Anyway, I might add some more later, but if not, I'm in an excellent mood nonetheless. This is the best I've felt in quite a looooong time. Whoooohah.

So there ARE actually people that read this online deal? Most interesting. I thank all y'all for the comments. Anyway, things have been really hectic as of late.  I've been really busy running around and doing all sorts of things. The middle school small group leading at Southland is progressing forward. It's getting to be a bit better. I'm getting the sense now that these kids actually WANT to pay attention a small amount of time. They're actually a very smart group as well. I was really amazed by the amount of biblical facts and other tidbits of knowledge they knew. Overall, something that I'm more and more glad that I'm involved with each time I go back.

Oh yeah, I never mentioned it before, but I'm also volunteering to do tech work at The Space Between. Let me Explain. "The Space Between" is a post college bible study that I go to at Southland each Thursday evening. It's really neat to see and actually be able to manipulate all the technical gear that goes into putting on this Thursday night event. I guess I'm a gearhead at heart, hah .

This past Saturday, I went to an event that I never thought I would go to in my entire life, a barn dance....... It was surprisingly fun, at least I can say that I line danced before I died, even to music that I'm usually not into! Hehe, this was one of the few times I actually wore a cowboy hat. I'm sure pictures of me with it on are out there; if not it might be fun to put one up here with it on me.

Well, while I'm at it, I"m going to go ahead and segway into a more serious topic. This isnt really a rant per se, but some interesting observations. It seems unreal to me that I see a lot of my friends getting married right now. Not that I'm knocking it, I'm really happy for them. It seems the push in this day and age to get married or even to get into a relationship is extremely strong. Singularity, or being single, it seems has really been made taboo. If you aren't actively with someone, people may feel differently about you, but more importantly it might impact the way you think about yourself. I guess what I'm trying to say is that being single shouldn't be seen as a curse or a bad period in your life. You've got to enjoy it for the time it's there. Honestly, to me, if you can't be satisfied/happy when you're single, you can't be happy/satisfied when you're involved in a relationship. Simple as that. Not I'm not advocating going the monk/nun route at all. Just be patient and God WILL make it happen. Thats just my two cents.

Heh, I can't end on that note http://www.ebaumsworld.com/blackknight.html. http://www.ebaumsworld.com/crimsonroom.html.
Some very fun games for your enjoyment.

I figured now is a decent time as any to update this thing. I'm not sure why I do it though. Does anyone beside myself actually read this? Yeesh, have to pull an arm and a leg to get people to comment on your page. Anyway, things are going pretty well. I have some new volunteer opportunities lined up. I also have a prospective job in the works. I just need to keep myself busy during this time. Just remember: all work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy, All work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy! hah.

Great, now the type is messed up, fantastic. I start leading the small group of middle school guys tonight. My helper and I have quite a motley crue (pun intended) on our hands. Working with em' will be great though. If I can make an impact with them, it'll be awesome.

Time for an off topic discussion. I dont know if you all watch any tv, but there is a show on there called "My Super Sweet 16" on MTV. I know, I shouldn't expect anything great from that network, but they've really outdone the crap this time. The jist of the show is that these people throw these ultra extravagant birthday parties, just for turning 16.No big deal right? Yeah it is. These kids really make me want to hurl and it might also make clear some reason as to why other countries hate us so much. Some of these parents have spent upwards of over $400,000 for a freakin 16th birthday party!! Not only that, the kids on these shows are spoiled rotten (thats obviously implict but needed to be said again) and just boss their parents around. Geeze it makes me naucious just even typing this. Rant Over

I'll add a bit more later.

So I finally put up a profile pic of myself. I dont know why I never put this picture of me up there before. Its pretty good I think. It was actually taken a little over two years ago. It certainly brings back some memories, good ones that is.

Anyhow, this Wendsday I start volunteering at Southland with the middle school ministry there. It'll certainly be an interesting experience. I know middle school is a crazy time in a young person's life. It can also be the certain maker and breaker of particular habits, both good and bad. I only hope that I (at the very least) can be the fascilitater of good discusions among these young people. Especially true for kids around these particular ages; they need to have some depth/scope with their beliefs and not just rely on information they've been spoon-fed for the longest time. I know I'll do my best.

On a new topic, there seems to be a good deal of chaos going on with a church I go to. Ever since the main pastor left (for reasons I'm not even sure), the unrest in this church just seems to be growing. What's sad is that a lot of personal politics are causing this. Schisms within the chruch b/c of clicks and personal interests, its most disturbing really. Things like this are part of the reason why the Christian church is seen in an unfavorable light by many. These clicks should remember why they are at a church in the first place.
Wow, I had a good deal to say about religious topics this time. Sha-zam

Anyway, in better news, all the stuff pertaining to medical school is going along great. Its going at a much faster pace than last year. I must say, this year off is turning out much better than I expected. I'm getting a chance to get out and do things I only passingly thought about while in school. Its great that I get to try this all out. I guess the "good student" part of me is stepping back for a bit, and the "social" part of me is coming forward. Its most excellent. I look forward to more of it.

P.S. I've read this book a bit from various sources and I'm about to go out and purchase it officially. It gives simple synopses(sp?) of various religious. Its a great read. I recommend it, the John seal of approval

So I broke down and finally put this Xanga page on Facebook. I wonder if any people from there will actually respond to this. That would be cool. On a side note, I really do need a good "new" picture for Facebook. The one I have up there now has been there for ages.

Anyway, things are going fairly well. Some bummer news though, my UK ID card was just rejected at the Johnson Center . I'll have to find a new gym to go to, drag. The four days of working out a week are really beneficial though. I definetely enjoy it and already my strength has improved a good deal from a month ago.

Also, I go in for my interview to lead a middle school small group of guys in a few hours. I'm pretty sure it'll go alright. I've not attempted to do something like this before, so it'll be a good challenge but a great experience.

This is a really fun game and a throwback to old school shooters. Give it a shot (hah).
